Our client is a US-based vape and smoking accessories e-commerce store selling vaporizers, rolling papers, weed vaporizers, dab rigs, and related products. The brand launched with a clear vision of what they wanted to build — but ran headfirst into one of the most restrictive advertising environments in e-commerce.
In January 2021, with minimal organic presence and no viable paid channel, the brand came to us with a simple brief: build us traffic and customers using only SEO. Over the next two years, we did exactly that — and the results fundamentally transformed the business.
Google AdWords, Meta Ads (FB/IG), TikTok Ads, Twitter/X Ads, Snapchat Ads, Most programmatic. The vape and cannabis accessories category is one of the most restricted in digital advertising. Virtually every major platform prohibits or severely restricts ads for these products. This meant that unlike most e-commerce brands, our client had zero ability to buy traffic. Every single visitor had to be earned organically.

The Challenge
Most e-commerce brands treat SEO as a supplementary channel — something that helps while paid ads do the heavy lifting. For our client, SEO had to be the entire business model. There was no paid safety net. If organic didn't work, the business didn't work.
This created three compounding challenges that made this engagement genuinely difficult:

- Urgency of results: Unlike brands with paid channels to bridge the gap, our client needed organic traffic to start flowing as quickly as possible. There was no "wait 6 months for SEO to kick in" luxury when organic was the only revenue driver.
